I'd like to think there are more than 4 bars in this city of mine, and obviously there are, but seems to me most people bunker down at one of their few favorite places and never try to go to anywhere new. Take my friends for example, they go to Coconut Grove first and then think about what do they want to do that night secondly. Sure, this makes for a more productive evening b/c you've already forced yourself out into the scene, so it should work fine.
Yet somehow going to the Grove has become like a metaphor for a playground and all the rules that came with it when you were back in elementary. There was a bunch of different things to do at the playground but certain groups always spent their time at the same place. So now that I'm older the playground has gotten bigger, but the groups have beomce tighter and more apt to spend most of their time in one place. The absence of variety is what turns me away.
Still, though, I most likely will be there once again tonight. I'll still have fun. I'll try to detail what happened tomorrow.

Stuck in time
I wish I had a point of reference to look back upon and compare the current situation with class availability at my school the University of Miami. I have never had such a difficult time to find a schedule that works. Now I have absolutely no hope at all b/c there are so few classes available that there is no choice of what time you can take a class at.
I try to get a bartending job and what do I find? Only that my school schedule won't permit me to do anything else during the day b/c the gaps in between classes stretch my school day. They eliminated a class a day so that students would have more time in between classes. Who are the ad wizard that came up with that one? There isn't going to be a noticeable decline in students being late to class, if anything there will be an increase. Now you have fifteen minutes, that means you can now walk farther away from class, go print out your report in the library, take some time to go figure out what party you're going to that night, or just go watch girls for an extra 5 whole minutes.
I have no idea how I'm going to con someone into giving me a job with the schedule I have. I still can find not one legitimate reason why college is a good thing to go to. If companies had another way to evaluate worth it would be a lot easier, but I guess going to college is beneficial for others, it only seems to be holding me down.

I think this is a turning point.
Wasn't there a television news magazine called Turning Point? I try really hard to keep track of all the news magazines. I mentioned my distaste of these types of shows in an earlier entry, but I can't stress how important it is for each of us to receive our news in the most topical and opiniated matter.
Speaking of opinions there is no other time that during the election year that everyone has an opinion. Since the beginning of the year people have been biting all of their good friend's heads off in order to convince them their side is right. I, thankfully, am in the most ironic of all these types of situation being a college student and all. I really like seeing how every student knows who will be best to run the country yet statistics show around a quarter of them will vote. Is some socialist organization throwing all night parties on campuses all over America. Are students just unable to get up the next day to vote. I think everyone understand a good bender will last well past 6 in the evening the next day.
I'm not a complete idiot so I wasn't in college last time we had an election. Now that I am its not the actual voting process and being able to participate in the democratic ideals that has me excited. Its the prospect of this magical night known as Election Eve when nearly 2/3 of Americans are convinced every thing they were frustrated with in politics doesn't matter the next morning.
There has to be some sort of 'Voter Apathy' fairy or Santa clause like figure that is poisoning us into not giving a shit about voting. I know I took my does back in February and decided voting is counter poductive. No matter who you vote for they aren't going to do what you voted them in to do, they're going to compromise, which is a nice word for half-assing.
I'm leaving on that note but I'm going to reprint part of an article from BusinessWeek that was part of the "Does your Vote Matter?" report they did. (the answer most of the time is no).
From 1960 to 1976, all of the big states were electoral battlegrounds and were usually decided by five percentage points or less. Now, three of the four largest (California, New York, and Texas), with 44% of the electoral votes needed for victory, are off the table. This lack of competitiveness filters down to the local level. In 1976, just 26.8% of Americans lived in counties where one Presidential candidate won handily. Four years ago, 45.3% of voters were in such blowout counties.
With so many electoral votes predetermined, candidates don't waste time on sure bets, except for the occasional fund-raising foray. Instead, the Presidential race focuses on Gray Zones made up of the few remaining swing states (map, page 63). The battlegrounds are in the industrial heartland, where voters lean toward Democrats' economic populism but embrace Republican family values. And they are in Latino-influenced Sunbelt states from Arizona to Florida, where growing Hispanic populations and newcomers from more liberal locales have given Democrats a boost.
The result is a nation of political haves and have-nots. A high-tech family in the suburbs of Seattle or Portland -- both in battleground states -- is among the most sought-after, the subject of countless focus groups and direct-mail solicitations. But a techie in the Democratic turf of Boston's Route 128 corridor could go all year with nary a get-out-the-vote call.

Move
Maybe I'm not writing enough. God blesses us everyday, and it feels so good to know that fact.
So today was another ho hum day of work until I got to live very 21st century like and had a meaningful conversation over the internet. How much have relationships changed that now we can communicate with each other and not have to worry about expressing anything with the tone of your voice. Either way its nice to have a conversation that's worth something, but still its kind've cheap to do things over the internet. I'll try to be more open minded about it.
Thank God I learned about the Ewing Theory yesterday. Its time to prove it more than ever. If you don't know what I'm talking about you can thank my good friend Christian Sommadibeeelivilla for leading to it. You can find it here http://espn.go.com/page2/s/simmons/010509.html
I'm 5' 8" 20lbs over weight, unsure of who I should be, unable to approach people, on bad terms with a few people and have a bunch of unfinished projects. Come check on me in a month.

Phones and Bones
So here I am at one cusp of the week staring at the other, wondering what will fill the gap underneath me as take the next step.
I should receive my (way-past) mid way evaluation here at my internship. Hopefully it will provide me with some insight towards there will be any bonus at the end for me or if I expect to receive nothing.
I'm amazed at how much soft core porn is out there, but even more appalled at how 'soft' it really is. All they seem to be doing is rubbing up against each other. I'll be the first to say I wish sex were as easy as it is in those movies. At least in the real pornos the guy or the girl is working their ass off to get off, for the most part. I wish I could just rub my crotch against a girls vagina and have her moaning for hours but somehow I've never come across this considerate of a person.
Ok,so last night I seem to have put myself in a situation where I had to test my attitude. I'm trying to be direct with people and not waste time beating around the bush. I needed to get something that my friend James had, if not friends of mine and myself would be able to jam last night. Still it wasn't a big deal and I didn't want to make it seem like a big deal, just wanted to cut through the fat and get the cables back so everything would peachy. I called James, he didn't pick up which is more than fine and also very typical. So I thought 'hmmmm, what seems to be the one way that I've have been able to get in contact with James'? The answer to that for the past few weeks has been from speaking to his girlfriend and mentioning that he didn't return calls or pick up our call anyone, of course this only happened once before, but either way it was effective. Anyway, my method proved to be effective as I shortly got a call from Jimbo.
The conversation seemed to go south pretty quickly, with allegations of me being sarcastic and such. Well I sure wasn't attempting to be sarcastic and probably did it unintentional, but I made sure as soon as it was brought up to not waste any of my words. I don't know why he acted the way he did, or why he has been acting the way he has but who am I say to judge another man's actions. I obviously have enough of my own problems to figure out.

Television Magazine
So you get on television to talk about money and actions outside of your control. Perhaps this is why a huge rift exist in the people's confidence and trust where insecurity reigns supreme. It is my intention to prove through example and explanation that this wedging of deceit is caused by the adoption of a false perception- That you must concern yourself with what is outside of your control.
Obviously there are things that will happen that will effect your life that you have no control. There is nothing to gain though, even during chance events, through attempting to influence the world. By focusing on what you are able to change and manipulate you deter your mind from worrying, doubting, and being insecure. Doubt is insecurity, just about, and it sets in behaving and believing there is no reason to be confident. You can always be confident if you focus on the things you control, everything else that will happen will only present opportunities that you will be able to exert another control over. All that is then required is to act, there is no analyzation or discussion required when you realize the control you have over your own life and the waste of life that the outside world presents to you.
You can say that this idea proposes that we don't help our fellow man b/c their actions are out of our control. But it doesn't what it enforces is that you focus on how you can help your fellow man and to erase from your mind any concern for what reaction your action will cause. You control your actions not your consequences, so in a way you control your consequences through your actions, but the consequences for each action are hidden b/c we as humans do not have that foresight. So live through your actions, it is all you have, do not waste time living in consequences.
Is it that we need to constantly test our limits?
